Frequently asked questions

1. How do you find who is copying my content?

We have developed a proprietary technology to scan the Internet and identify copies of your content. Usually we work with clear cases of copyright infringement, where 90% or more of the copied content is equal to the original material.

On top of this technology we also have a team of expert webmasters and search engine optimizers (SEOs) working to maximize the results that we deliver to our clients.

2. What is the take down process?

Basically we have a standard procedure divided in layers. Initially we notify the website owner about the copyright infringement, asking him either to use a quote of your content and link back to the original version (that way our clients also gain backlinks on the process) or to remove it completely.

Should this step fail we will proceed to notify the service provider that is hosting the content, possibly sending a fax and contacting them by phone. Our Legal Department ensures that all the procedures are in compliance with the DMCA and Copyright Laws.

Finally, in extreme cases where either the website owner or the hosting provider insists in keeping the illegal material online, we will discuss with our client the possibility of filing a civil lawsuit.

3. Do you provide legal advice?

No. Our company provides a copyright protection service, and under no circumstance our work should be considered as legal advice.

Even in the case filing a lawsuit, we can only orient you on the process, but your company will need the handle the attorney and legal procedures by itself.

4. If I purchase the “One Time Copyright Protection,” how long will the process take?

While we try to complete our activities as soon as possible, we also depend on the response time of the owners of the infringing websites and connected service provides.

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act clearly specifies that Internet service providers should act expeditiously to remove, or black access to, the infringing material that is hosted on their servers, else they become liable as well.

This means that it is their interest as well to act as fast as possible. From previous experience we estimate that 30 business days it the maximum that it can take to complete the take down process.

5. The Ongoing Copyright Protection costs significantly less, why?

The Ongoing Copyright Protect only covers your newly published content. If you subscribe to that service today, we will only track illegal copies of the content that will be published from this date onwards.

The same is not true for the One Time Copyright Protection, where we will scan the whole Internet for all the illegal copies of your content, including archived material.

6. Why do large publishers need to pay more?

Our pricing structure is value rather than cost driven. That is, we base our prices on the value that our services will provide for the client.

Large web publishers tend to have a higher CPM (cost per 1000 impressions) rate, meaning that they earn more for every visitor on their site. Consequently, they also lose more every time a visitor end up not visiting their site due to content theft, and that is why he would receive greater value from our services.
